Architecture has a purpose, but some buildings are so unusual they are just plain silly. Sure, architects aren’t perfect, but I wonder how they come up with such crazy ideas. Here are some of the weirdest and most unusual buildings on the earth - I promise these aren't Photoshopped. Hope you like it. Olympic Stadium (Montreal Quebec, Canada) Designed for the 1976 Olympic Games, the Olympic Stadium was not completed on time due to a strike by construction workers. The 556 foot leaning tower designed to retract the roof stood half finished until 1987 when the roof was finally completed. It took another 2 years before the roof, made from 60,696 square... read full article

Looks like the construction team had the plans in a shallow tray of water while building this. Reminds me of an old MAD magazine cartoon where someone swats a fly on the building plans and it gets incorporated into the skyscraper design. Anyone remember that?

Some might say silly, but i disagree, these buildings are pushing the boundaries of peoples perspective of what a building should look like. And not to mention the challenges that go into the construction of seeing these buildings come to life from paper plans.

Are these people on drugs? If so where can I get hold of some! Seriously though, most are outstanding "outside the square" designs. Beats the normal rectangle building you see everywhere. The upside down building was outstanding and I thought it was one of those internet fakes for a second while the Bilbao one reminded me of Te Papa. The only one I thought was crap was the rock n roll hall of fame.

most of the designs are great! Love them and some people have very creative minds. Here is a studium in Munich Germany I thought was awesome. The stadium lights up and you can change the colour depending on what team is playing. Eden Park eat your heart out....

I think these buildings are fantasic, take a look at what Dubai have compared to a lot of other countries in the world, they are a breath of fresh air and really showcase the talents of the design team

Are these for real... awesome job man!!!

Sad to realise that none of these projects would get near completion in NZ. We just don't have the holistic ideals that are needed for world class projects as seen above.

In saying that - WOW. The structures above are pretty amazing.
