There is the showing off of the merchandise which might be an appeal. But I think the fashion right now is to look like you don't need to do any exercise that builds muscle. Much like being super pale (never had to go outside and work) or being super tan (had time to lounge around and do nothing in the sun all day), being super skinny just shows that you are a part of a group who is able to attain things effortlessly. Fashion tends to follow these sorts of trends. There will be a more "conservative" trend to follow. Burlap kilts perhaps? ;) More about why do men wear skinny jeans?

Physical capabilities of zombies (what you think zombies are capable of)
I think that zombies start out as total bada**es. The hunger cravings plus the lack of pain. They can charge through anything. Over time, as decomposition happens, the zombie will lose some motor skills. It won't be able to navigate a staircase without tumbling down. As various connective tissues lose elasticity the limbs will start to seize up and the movements will become more stilted and shuffle-y. If zombie digestive processes are at all efficient, the ingestion of human brains (or flesh) would work towards maintaining connective tissue elasticity and muscle mass. Failure to eat means the zombie will eventually waste away completely and there will be nothing there to mobilize the skeletal remains. Steam: I steam vegetables when I'm using them as is with just a bit of spices or seasonings on top. It keeps the flavor and I'm less likely to overcook them. Unless I get really distracted and just leave them alone for ages. It's simple. The flavor stays clean and like others have said, all the good bits stay inside.
Boil: Boiling has it's place. I usually use it as a preliminary step in vegetable preparation. Boil before you mash or blend or roast. I don't do it as a stand-alone cooking method for anything but pasta and eggs. Boiling can cause the flavor and nutrients to leech out into the water and then be drained off. If you're looking to make an amazing soup though, boil whichever vegetables you'd like into oblivion. Keep an eye on the amount of water you use (for consistency) and season well. You can run it through a food processor to make a smoother texture as well. And soup is sounding pretty nice on a dreary day. More about Steamed over boiled veges -
