Q&A Get Frank – Hallertau Brewery
I like my beer to be alcoholic. A full liquid body that does not foam excessively when (a) popped open with a fish slice, (b) punctured with a sharp knife or (c) poured through a funnel into an extended piece of hosing. It must be able to travel bi-directionally in the esophagus, with a consistent 'first sip' freshness both on the way down and back up again.
A good NZ lager or Ranfurly (440ml) usually fits the bill. Although I have not sampled Hallertau's per se, I am certain I could consume large quantities of their product with no trouble at all. More about Q&A Get Frank – Hallertau Brewery -
Advice for Perfect Suit Etiquette
the great thing about the suit jacket is that it's so versatile, it can go over everything including (but not limited to) a basketball singlet, snowboarding jacket, chiseled bare chest, leather VillagePeople vest and believe it or not a nice collared shirt. Suit pants on the other hand can only go over boxers or straight meat n 2 vege. More about Advice for Perfect Suit Etiquette

Big Day Out 2010 - First Lineup Announcement
This year the event should have been rebranded as the 'Repetitive Day Out'. The drawcards (Muse, Powderfinger, Mars Volta, Lily Allen etc) have multiple appearances under their belts. And recent appearances at that! A second concern is the naming of pretty average local acts as if they are massive crowd pullers. I've got nothing against the likes of powderfinger, grinspoon and eskimo joe but if I'm going to a music festival I want to get something BIG, not what I can see when these bands drop their latest album and tour. The local acts should support main international acts, as the likes of shihad and jet have done so well in the past.
On the plus side, there is a solid foundation to build on but it is a bit worrying that there may be no massive name (a la Rage, Foo Fighters, Tool) if it hasn't been announced already.
Conclusion...a whole bunch of little bands do not equal a big headliner. More about Big Day Out 2010 - First Lineup Announcement -
Concert Review: Pearl Jam @ Mt. Smart
For all the hype surrounding Pearl Jams return to the shores of NZ after over a decade, I was somewhat skeptical of the infamous Seattle grungers living up to expectation...
Not only did Eddie and Co. leave expectation as a speck in the distance, they shot an eagle on a par 5 (so to speak). Classics were intermingled with newer generation PJ to keep the stands standing and the moshers moshing. Even though not the favourite in my personal catalogue, 'Given to Fly' was the stand out performance for me.
As an aside, I think Ben Harper and his crew were exceptional also. However, I had made the conscious decision to give his new album (White Lies for Dark Times) a thrashing before the gig, which paid off as these tracks made up the majority of his set.
All in all, 9 thumbs up and wicked to see Mike, Stone, Jeff, Matt and Eddie still rockin it 20 or so years after exploding onto the scene. More about Concert Review: Pearl Jam @ Mt. Smart -
