  • What will be the major technology devices in our lives in the near future that will affect our home and work places??

I don't know if robotic workmates would be such a bad thing... some of the people I work with have the personality and social skills of a rusty nail so that would be an improvement.
Imagine a workplace where no-one is going to steal your lunch from the staffroom fridge, where you don't have to cringe wondering if 'that' person has showered in the last two days, where you don't have to fake smile and have superficial conversations just because he/she is your supervisor. No more sexual harassment lawsuits - wait - there are some crazy people out there so that might have to go on the 'wait and see' list :)
Personally, and more seriously, my biggest worry is how all of our new technology is going to be integrated into "the system". Big Brother is always looking for ways to monitor our every move and purchase - it will be attributed to increasing our safety but we may never be alone again... This will definitely create a lot of discussion and, as you can see, it may never reach a resolution. I have seen a lot of people claiming the low turnout to be an action of "no confidence" against the current Government. However, if that were true, a vote against the current Government would have been a much clearer indication of their lack of confidence. Personally, I believe the low turnout indicates the lack of viable options the "unsure" voting public felt they had. The people who knew how they were going to vote did so and the rest, well, didn't. This was particularly evident in the party vote for minor parties which is where most of the lost votes was visible.
The National Government celebration will be short-lived once the Labour Party leadership race is over. Both candidates will be a positive change for the party but Shearer will have a much better appeal to the NZ public because of his background and ability to relate. They will compound problems if they fail to explain and gain substantial public approval for their planned asset sales. If they cannot do that it will be a huge election point in 2014 for any party wanting to make ground.
Of the minor parties (could go on and on like everyone else here) I was most impressed with the performance of the Conservative party. However, if they are unable to build their public perception and be 'visible' they may fade away over the next three years and prove the votes they gained this year to be truly wasted. • Quick fix for hair if you run out of wax

As small amount of the good old conditioner works a treat as a short term fix if suffering from "wax-loss". Works best with slightly wet hair and is particularly effective with short hair - even allows for a bit of spiking. Also a good way of avoiding the metro tag if you just want your hair to be tidy. It's even quicker than the prep time required for the "something about Mary" technique ;) More about Quick fix for hair if you run out of wax

It seems the 'spirit' of racing is strong with this one. If the reports of her being a 30 something are true then she is in very good form in quite a competitive field :) More about Female Flasher at New Zealand Trotting Cup

  • Sneans - The mortal crime of combining Sneakers and Jeans

Last post: Chad on 28.09.11 at 23:08 | Started by Tim on 29.08.11

Ahhh sneans. I have to admit to two things:
1 - All in all I agree that "sneaning" is definitely a crime against fashion. Hard to deny it when our fashion is governed by what we see on TV and popular culture generated on foreign shores. Even if we wanted to fight or deny it we'd simply lose.
2 - I lose - all the time :) I don't choose to fight the fashion trend; I simply don't adhere to it. I'm not an out and out snean wearer as demonstrated by Seinfeld, but the dark coloured shoes at the end of my jeans are sneakers; what's worse (according to Ryan Gosling on "Crazy, Stupid, Love") is that they are New Balance.

So, if I know what the fashion requirements are, why do I continue to ignore them? Because, basically, I have a life that consists of work, children, bad diet, poor sleep, too many bills, low exercise (because of bad diet, work stress, poor sleep and too many bills) and wearing sneakers with my jeans is comfortable... practical... and cheap!

Perhaps, once my lotto numbers roll on down, I will finally have the means to become... Suave! :) More about Sneans - The mortal crime of combining Sneakers and Jeans
