  • What Happens When You Decriminalize ALL Drugs?

I think this concept is great! It is the drug pushers who are the real criminals, and the people who buy off them are generally the victims, as he said in the video. Threatening users with legal action makes no difference to their addiction, it simply puts them in a worse position, where they are left untrusted by society because of their conviction, and end up going back again and again to drugs. Decriminalisation provides the perfect balance - while use is not tolerated (ie. it is not legal), neither is it heavily punished. It gives users the opportunity to get their lives back, and gives the police more time to spend chasing the source of this problem - the smugglers and pushers.
In this country I know of good people who have got drugs convictions and, because of that, can not now get a job, and end up going back to their substances. The illegal status does not act as a deterrent to many people. If it was not a criminal offense, these people would have had the chance to fix themselves up without fear and would now be living respectable lives, rather than being seen by society as an evil criminal.
