Album Review: Dillinger Escape Plan - Ireworks
I went to the Dillinger gig. It was incredible. Amazing musicians and an incredibly full on show - singer swinging from the lighting rig, guitarist stage diving while still playing and not missing a note.
I hadn't heard much about these guys before the show, so I did a bit of digging around on Youtube, etc. They are/were borderline unapproachable at first. But I was keen to be challenged musically so I went to the gig and was blown away. It's been years since I've heard anything so different, technically brilliant and inspiring. The constant changes in time signatures are unreal.
If you like a bit of heavy music and want to stretch yourself a bit. Give the Dillinger Escape Plan a try. ...and persevere. They'll grow on you.

Win $50 Vouchers with JustTees.co.nz
From 1986-1989 I owned an awesome black Red Hot Chili Peppers T-shirt. I picked it up in Hawaii while scouring "record" stores for punk & hardcore vinyl that was hard to get in NZ at the time. The T-shirt simply said "Pull Your Socks Up... The Chilis Are Coming!" with a photo of the band lined up, wearing nothing but socks. My mum hated it and tried to through it out numerous times. I lost count of the number of times I had to retrieve it from the rubbish bin, Eventually she succeeded. This is it (minus the 'Fight Like A Brave' single blurb at the bottom) - http://www.freewebs.com/fluffy_elzy/socks.jpg ...I still pine for it now. :-)
