Having previously reviewed and loved the Philips Sonicare Flexcare+ electic toothbrush, I jumped at the chance to review Philips' latest electric toothbrush offering, the DiamondClean. Powered by patented sonic technology, the DiamondClean is the most advanced power toothbrush in the Sonicare range, with a dynamic cleaning action that drives fluid between the teeth and along the gum for healthier gums and whiter teeth. Overall, it's very similar to the Flexcare+, with the need for less toothpaste than a manual toothbrush, a pause in buzzing to let you know when to move to another part of the mouth, and a amazing clean teeth feeling that you would normally only get from the dentist.

So, what's the difference?

The price is higher for a start, by about $90, so you'd hope that you get some extra features... And you do, of course. The most obvious is that DiamondClean is more aesthetically pleasing. It's lighter, whiter, and only has one button. The modes light up when the toothbrush is on, and overall it looks very pretty. It doesn't have a grip like the Flexcare+ for those who are a little clumsy, but the handle seems to be non-slip so I didn't find it an issue.

The DiamondClean also has some different modes, including whitening, and polish (replacing Flexcare's refresh and massage), so if you are looking for an electric toothbrush that specifically caters for whitening teeth, then this is definitely one to consider. I love the whitening mode and use it regularly now. It feels stronger, and it's pulsing action really makes your teeth feel cleaned and polished.

The unique glass charger (pictured) is certainly novel, and looks great. The toothbrush also comes with a handy travel case, which makes packing it away so much easier.

If you are looking for an electric toothbrush that gives you a dentist-clean feeling, specifically whitens teeth, and looks great, then Philips' Sonicare DiamondClean should be top of the list when considering an electric toothbrush. It ticks all the boxes.
