Most people will agree that wine and dessert go well together, holding hands as they skip into the sunset of your mouth. Just the very image of a glass of wine next to a plate of tiramisu is enough to make most people salivate, drooling like a person about to fall in love at first bite. It seems simple enough: a glass of wine, a plate of sweets, a taste bud or fifty, but wining and dining in this manner needs more than a twinkie and a bottle of sugary liquid; it requires proper pairing of food and wine for the ultimate experience. It also requires a knowledge of what the term "dessert wines" truly entails.Dessert wines, by definition, appear pretty simple: they... read full article

They look so good, I love the amazing shaped bottles. These wines would be great for when your sitting around the coffee table with strawberries and chocolate fondue!

I've got a huge sweet tooth and I love desert wine. My favourite pudding is rather simple. a hot mud cake with whipped cream, french vanilla ice cream and a hot chocolate sauce. Always eat them with a sweet Desert wine. Not good for the heart but hey who cares!

Desert wine is a sticky treat, but can be fickle friend. Many popular New Zealand desert wines are late harvest reislings and late harvest pinot gris. Buyer beware that there is a huge difference in sweetness between these and most Ice wines. Botrytised (or noble) wines are amazing, imparting incredible flavours often of wheat and honey, and NZ is becoming very good at producing these. My pick of the NZ bunch is the Vinoptima Noble Gewurtztraminer, recently sold out at the vineyard and worth its weight in gold, try to pick some up at your off licence. Also remember that Pedro Ximenez sherry is generally the richest, sweetest drink that pairs exquisitely with tiramisu. Yum.

I love desert wines , I never liked wine until one night out at a friends house she had a selection of wines to go along with her beautiful 3 course meal. Well by the end I was quite partial to the desert wine and a tad pickled.

Yuuuum! I am not actually a wine type of person generally. As weird as it sounds I cant stand white wine, but love red. I also tend to go for the more sweet wines..So dessert wines could be the one! Having them with some dessert sounds seriously yummmmmmm. Chocolate and wine sounds amazing. I love their bottles too! They look so dainty and posh which adds to the awesomness (: :p
