Discussing :: Sony Ericsson U5i Vivaz

With so many mobiles looking so alike these days I was expecting a typical Sony Ericsson stylish but block-like design when the Vivaz arrived on my desk. How wrong could I be! The curvaceous, contemporary design just begs you to touch it, hold it in your hand and spin it around on the table. Yes, that’s one of the first thoughts that came to mind and not surprisingly that’s exactly what I find myself doing subconsciously. You see it’s the cambered back of the Vivaz - the same curved back that lays in your palm like it was made specifically for you, the same curved back that allows the phone to slip in and out of your jeans pocket with ease -... read full article

THese can hardly be called phones anymore, cos there is so much more you can do these days..... I remember when the first mobiles came out and had a camera on them , I swore I wouldn't get one with a camera, but alas.... most of them do now anyway, and.... its pretty handy!!!! Bring on the Air Hogs Sharpshooter, my husband is gonna love it!!!!

There is no doubt that the Sony Ericsson Vivaz offers a lot. It punches well above its weight when it comes to video and photos, offering one of the best camera phones I've seen to date. It does suffer in low light, however, and the LED flash won't help you out too much, so don't expect to get good results in a gloomy pub

A mobile design that "begs you to touch it, hold it in your hand and spin it around the table"? In the 1980s, Slime (remember that?) and Slinkeys held the same fascination... Boy have times changed! My memory may be fading, but I'm pretty sure Slime and Slinkeys never had built in Javascript, Bluetooth, 8.1 MP Camera, and USB capability... ;) Amazing to think that we've gone from green slime and coiled wire in the 1980s to the Vivaz in just a couple of decades ;)

Fantastic phone review! I've got a Sony Erricson at the moment and can attest to the operating systems idiosyncrasies, some being good and some quite bad. This model however seems to be easily reaching the bar the Nokia N90 set. Were I upgrading my phone I would definitely shortlist this one. Cheers Ian!

I think the Symbian OS definitely needs to be retired.

From the big brick like cellphones of the eighties to these mobile cum tv cum walkman cum computer type things i've just about tried them all and i have yet to find the perfect one. Before anything else a mobile should make calling a breeze, be easy to hold, easy to manuvere and able to take a tumble or three - or in my case a swim in the john, then and only then should they then consider adding on the 'extras'. A decent phone is all i ask for and yet i am consistently disappointed and move on to the next product that fails to live up to its promise.
