This isn't saying much considering what a dubious season it has been, but "Salt" is just about as accomplished in the action department as any film released so far this summer. It's a pure exercise rather than a fully developed narrative, but director Phillip Noyce (1999's "The Bone Collector") and screenwriter Kurt Wimmer (2009's "Law Abiding Citizen") keep things moving with tight pacing, competent stunts, well-choreographed death-defying moments, and a plot that gets to the point and then leaves the viewer guessing for the duration. The movie was originally scripted with a male lead and Tom Cruise was approached to play the title character. For what ever reason, he backed out and the script was rewritten with a female lead and Angelina Jolie took the role.

going to see Salt on monday, I'm not a fan of Jolie but she could probably twist my arm! Her partner Brad is a better actor

The reviewer and I clearly differ in opinion of Inception, I must have blinked during the bloated clunkiness. As for this Salt flick (is it just me or does that sound like a euphemism for porn?), I'm inclined to agree with the reviewer in part, having not seen it obviously, from first impressions I suspect I will pass the Salt, at least on the big screen anyway.

Apparently Tom Cruise turned this down to star in Knight and Day (bet he regrets that now lol). All i know, is that i know which one of the two i would rather sit for a couple of hours watching. Worth the ticket just to see Angelina kicking ass :)

Great to see a woman in a lead role of an action flick who can actually pull it off. Got to hand it to Angelina - she's beasty AND beautiful. Who cares if it's not a thinking movie. You go girl!
