With all the boldness of a very slow turtle, the Chief Electoral Office is talking of trialling online voting in 2014, 2017 and 2020 with a possible implementation in 2023. I absolutely support a trial before any decisions are made on implementation, but online voting has been discussed and trialled globally since 1996. An 18 year wait until we even trial it is manifestly inadequate. The 2010 local body elections represent a superb opportunity to trial online voting. As they already use postal voting, there is less of a culture change. You merely include a username and password with their voting letter, and maybe have them get a one time PIN e-mailed to them... read full article

Online Voting

i think that online voting with be useful for many elderly and busy people with not much time to vote. however, with an increased demand on technology in such a confidential and important matter, the increase in computer hacking and 'rigging' pole could arise.

Online Voting

Corruption has its way of wiggling into anything. This tool of online voting will not be an exception. Infact in my opinion, It'll only become easier with online voting.

I do think that governing online online elections some what of an issue... maybe I'm just being paranoid or watching too many hacker movies lol.

if nothing else, imagine the paper saved. we have the technology to waste so much less than we do. tragic that it does not get embraced.
