Discussing :: In Defense of Canned Beer

For some reason once upon a time, someone decreed that beer in bottles was classier and cooler and better than beer in cans. That bottles should forever and for always be the gold standard of drinking and quality beer. Well guess what, kemosabe? They were DEAD WRONG. Well at least that’s what I believe, and guess what…it’s my website! So get ready to be taken to Can School! I’m ready to present the argument that cans are superior to bottles….is there anyone out there with the plums to take me on? Let me present my arguments with numbers next to them: 1. Cans Are Opaque – Clearly the frontrunner in arguments against... read full article

A few that you missed, 7. Trying to seek canned beer into an event (eg cricket, rugby, Hamilton V8's) is a damn sight easier than trying to sneek bottled beer. 8. Forget trucks, taking a dozen cans to a mates to watch the game is easier than carrying a dozen bottles. Likewise, a 6 can holder chilly bag is smaller & easier to carry than a 6 bottle holder. 9. To look posh without having to be, you can easily fit three cans into most wine bottle carriers. One can easily sits on another. 10. Cans stack better in the fridge because one can easily sits on top of another. So you can fit more in. 11. Bottles have labels which can be peeled off by those who have partaken of a few or drinkers who are plain bored and this contributes to the mess that needs to be cleaned up. Can don't have labels so don't add to thee mess other than the can itself. Cans also have designs that can go all the way around, top to bottom. This is starting to look like a Super 14 score, better stop. Long live the can!!

I like my steak aged, not my beer. It's never in the fridge long enough to age very much anyway.

12. Its all right to crush the can in a very manly hand clenching action once empty - try doing that with a bottle. 13. You can shotgun a can. 14. One can can apparently support upwards of a tonne in weight in positioned perfectly on a flat surface. They are so strong. I have not tried a tonne but I have stood on one on one leg. 15. You can build super sweet towers, walls hell even castles with your empty beer cans. Much harder with bottles... - Leon

I still prefer the bottle. It has the extra benefit of providing a workout lifting the extra weight of the glass from the table to your mouth, thereby burning calories while you drink! At least that's my justification anyway .
