It's been observed that there are only seven unique plotlines in the world, and all books, movies and plays are just variations on those themes. The same is true for barroom conversations, except there are only five. As someone who gets paid to be in the bar, I've had plenty of opportunities to observe these types in action.  And since I’m in the bar for the majority of my life, often by myself, this has only fueled my rabid curiosity for talking to strangers. How to Talk to Anyone in a Bar

you forgot to mention one of the most challenging plays of a night in a bar. 'rashscape' is tactical, challenging and painful to lose. nothing can be more annoying than being with a small group of friends, and having some weirdo cramping your style by hanging round and getting between you and the girl. these 'rashes' are really annoying and hard to get rid of. there are various tactics to escape these rashes. one by a group of us last friday was to buy him drinks until he was too drunk to stay in town, and throwing him in a taxi home. other tactics include finding him/her an equally rashy girl/boy to hook up with, or simply walking away when he/she isn't looking.
