Discussing :: Argentina Travel - Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, IguazຠFalls, Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia

Argentina is on the way back from the economic crisis of the last few years. If you are looking for a travel destination, Argentina is amazing and cheap.Economic WoesWhile Argentina has unlimited beauty, it also has unlimited corruption. The massive corruption finally lead to an economic crisis at the turn of the century. With the currency devalued and jobs hard to find, Argentina was a decidedly dangerous place for travelers. At one point, the country was going through Presidents faster than I go through coffee. At one point, the country went through five of them in a month! Wait, that might not be such a bad idea. Regardless, things appear to have stabilized... read full article

I always worry about going to some of these South American countries. You hear all about the kidnapping of foreign tourists etc, although I'm sure it doesnt happen in Argentina.

My girlfriend is over there at the moment. At the end of the dodgy stuff can happen to you anywhere. So long as you stay in groups and use some street smarts its safer than a trip to your corner dairy. Great article. Can't wait to get over there myself. Till then I'll have to live with Iguacu in Parnell;)

I went to Buenos Aires 4 years ago as my brother had a trip lined up & had broken up with his gf who was going to go with him.. I put up my hand & said I'll be your mrs bro! I recommend visiting the big cemetary there, pretty cool... heaps of cats wandering around (the only place you see them as dog poop lines the streets) Very European city, it's basically a big swamp & you'll be surprised to see what looks like ToeToe everywhere on the plains(their invasive pampas/cutty grass). As a vegan I got to lose 5kg there in 5 days... communication wasn't the best haha... I have since learned there is places I could've eaten in Palermo (a very cool part of the city. Hold your nose in La Boca as the place doen't live up to the meaning of Buenos Aires (Good air) pretty stinky!

Go if you get the chance.. not somewhere I'd visit on purpose, but I've been & it was interesting!
