Discussing :: Do you really give nothing when you agree with your partner not to get anything?!

It is better to give then receive even if she has said no presents doesn't have to be diamonds and pearls just heartfelt.

Our Xmss is totally minimalist and we dont feel under pressure to satisfy unrealistic expectations...except for the children of course but thery will grow up and learn how thw world really works one day.

Good to see most people will try and do something for their partners no no matter what. I always think of it like I do around Valentines Day. I don't really buy into all the hype but if my wife is going to get something I sure as hell want it to be from me!

Id still get a present for my partner. Wouldnt matter to me if i got nothing back its about making the other preson happy

Yeah I do give nothing when we agree, but she doesnt seem to stick to the agreement. but then, she controls the money! Not me

We always agree not to get each other any presents but it is hubby who never buys anything and then goes hunting through the house on his birthday for his present!!

Yes, and she doesn't give me anything. After nearly 20 years together, gifts are few and far between anyway!

Absolutely. Takes a little more stress out of life and removes all those moments of disappointment when you realise he just didn't get it right.

"Read between the lines" is definitely true, but it means you can improvise a lot - maybe not something physical or bought. Flowers (from the garden), cooking a great dinner or doing a meal out, or even just a picnic at the beach (ie give time)

Giving nothing means trouble with a capital T because most blokes know she usually means "surprise me" with something thoughtful that means something to her (which is not easy for the fella as he has to try and read her mind.
