I've been through years of my husband's relatives suffering from Alzheimers. Hubbie does everything the 'experts' say to stave it off - physical exercise, ginko pills, reduced stress, memory games (wretched iphone!) - which already makes life tougher than it needs to be. He's not an easy man at any time. However, without telling him, inside I'm terrified that he will end up the same as the older members of his family. If I am lucky and survive that long, I can see the last 15-20 years of my life devoted to having to look after him and I already know for those involved, it can be a prolonged stressful and unhappy time as to watch the slow deterioration brought about by Alzheimers.

Sooner or later we may be a statistic, keep doing those puzzles and exercises in the mean time. Two very elderly ladies were enjoying the sunshine on a park bench in Miami. They had been meeting at that park every sunny day for over 12 years… chatting, and enjoying each other’s friendship. One day, the younger of the two ladies, turns to the other and says, “Please don”t be angry with me, dear, but I am embarrassed, after all these years. What is your name? I am trying to remember, but I just can’t.” The older friend stares at her, looking very distressed, says nothing for two full minutes, and finally with tearful eyes, says, “How soon do you have to know?”

...that is why I am so proud of my mum she has just completed her degree and early stages by her lecturer is that she has passed...so she will probably be graduating next year....is awesome news...I remember how hard she studied and worked her butt off the best part is she loved and enjoyed it....she said she never thought of things the way her studies have made her think, which to me means the mind and memory have been working overload as of late....I said to my dad on the phone this morning your turn dad and he said I am already top of my class and I said what class he said intercourse!...I said to much information so early in the morning dad!....lol and he said ask your mother she's the marker!....lol

Computers have lots of memory but no imagination, and just like us as they get older they get slower just like us.
