HONEY'S : NO:'1' in Benefits

THEY CALL IT GOD'S FOOD... Honey, a delicacy fit for the kings and queens

It's uses are countless, i think i should do a 'PHD' in HONEY

HONEY has / have existed even before the advent of modern medicine and have been so tried and tested by diverse cultures and peoples from all over the world that even with the lack of endorsement of medical doctors and scientific basis of belief and trust, they continue to thrive.

I am sure many of us have read articles and books on natural medicine such Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine that led us to trying a new cure, but have never really grasped from those discussions a convincingly clear understanding of cause and effect. Nevertheless, despite all the scepticism and criticism that many of us might have at one point or another in time, time-honoured home remedies continue to have its remarkable appeal in the arena of healing. Many of these natural cures are often seen as a form of more effective and holistic therapy for health conditions that are not exactly so critically emergent and do not require an immediate treatment but yet are chronic and can be so persistent that it takes a toll on the body over the long run if not properly attended to.
In this Benefits of Honey Website, you will be able to find discussions of some of the most prevalent health problems of today -- what actually is happening to our body when those problems surface, the cause of the problems, and the use of the sweetest medicine, honey, and how for centuries people have believed that its effect, whether on its own or together with other natural ingredients, can be useful in alleviating those problems, or just as a body detox agent to achieve better health.

The fact is, honey is far better than what most people perceive. Researchers are turning up more and more new evidence of honey's medical benefits in all directions. The benefits of honey don't just stop at satisfying the palate; honey also offers incredible antiseptic, antioxidant and cleansing properties for our body and health, hot beauty and skin care tips for ladies, and amazing healing properties as a head-to-toe remedy, from eye conjunctivitis to athlete foot. Its powerful healing attributes have long been used thousands of years ago and known to promote healing for cuts, cure ailments and diseases, and correct health disorders for generations after generations. The renowned UMF Manuka honey, perhaps the tastiest natural medicine, is commonly cited in many discussions on health benefits of honey. This honey not only fights infection and aids tissue healing but also helps reduce inflammation and scarring. In addition, it is often used for treating digestive problems such as diarrhea, indigestion, stomach ulcers and gastroenteritis.

Raw honey, especially, contains high levels of vitamins and minerals as well as the life-giving amino acids.
1: Contain Rich Nutrition
2: Calorie and Weight Loss
3: Improve Sport Performance
4: Offer Antioxidant Protection
5: Cure Cough
6 : Aid Digestion
7: ''Cure Insomnia''

While the above studies have found evidence of honey promoting restful sleep in coughing children and their parents, no study has really been conducted to investigate if eating honey at bedtime will promote higher quality sleep for people suffering from insomnia.

According to Michael McInnes of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, eating a tablespoon or two of honey at bedtime can improve sleep quality without causing weight gain. Using prior studies, he postulated why eating honey may promote restorative sleep.

Honey Improve Sport Performance : Honey eaten before exercise is digested easily and released into the system at a steady rate for use by the body.

The study involved a group of 39 weight-trained athletes, both male and female. Subjects underwent an intensive weight-lifting workout and then immediately consumed a protein supplement blended with either sugar, maltodextrin or honey as the carbohydrate source.

The honey group maintained optimal blood sugar levels throughout the two hours following the workout
Studies at the University of Memphis Exercise and Sports Nutrition Laboratory found that honey may be one of the most effective forms of carbohydrate to eat just prior to exercise.

Found this one under healing properties:

WEIGHT LOSS: Daily in the morning 1/2 hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one-cup water. If taken regularly it reduces the weight of even the most obese person.
Also, drinking of this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

here's some more to fill your honey pot...

honey has an approximate shelf life of 50 yrs

the natural bacteria from honey is unique depending on hive location, some say eating honey from a hive will build tolerance against the stings from the bees of that hive

bees have many jobs and one of the most interesting is the 'heater bee', these maintain the core temperature of the hive and can be up to 10degs warmer than its buddies.
hives require about 20 000 bees to achieve a self sustaining population

queen bees are exported to colder climates that need to replenish hives after winter

the human race would not survive the total collapse of the bee population due to the pollination requirement of our food chain

so bee nice to the busy buzzy bees

Two tablespoonfuls of honey at night to promote good quality sleep.
Super-food honey is said to contain the sleep inducing amino acid tryptophan that is useful for overcoming insomnia.
When taken prior to bed, it is able to provide sufficient glycogen storage for the necessary fuelling of the liver, ease stress hormones and help us get a restful sleep at night.

Honey definitely cures a multitude of ills is a great thing to have close by and merits use I find especially in winter or to use sparingly in combination with other ingredients as a face cleansing mask. I also find a little manuka honey is wonderful mixed with shredded mint and lemon....prefer it more than lem sip over those cooler seasons

If your kids are finding hard to cope with the physical strain from the buzzing activities at school, prepare them some sandwiches with honey, butter and ham to make sure they have enough energy to sustain through the day. Most impressive to me is that honey can be a powerful immune system booster.

Most people think of honey as the sweet, sticky stuff you put on toast or drop into hot tea, but in recent years, researchers have been exploring its potential in other ways. Some of these include: to lessen the ill effects of radiation therapy in patients with cancer of the head and neck, to improve oral health, to preserve food, to boost antioxidants, to enhance athletic performance.
