Discussing :: Don't be a chicken - Eat raw eggs

#11

Can't say I've tried them but it sounds ok - if it works for Rocky it's worth a shot me thinks

happy that one of our chickens is good at hiding her eggs as 4 chicks just appeared on the scene wouldnt be keen to eat those raw or otherwise!

I think we all eat raw eggs without even thinking about it from time to time - in things like desserts (cold souffles, mousses, etc.) and mayonnaise. For me, I'm always slightly worried about salmonella etc. so definitely could never be a Prairie Oyster fan. For anyone who hasn't tried this purported hangover 'remedy", here is the recipe:
* 1 raw egg
* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
* salt
* pepper
* 2 dashes of Tabasco sauce

Crack the egg into a glass, leaving the yolk unbroken. Douse it with Worcestershire sauce, a sprinkling of salt and pepper, and Tabasco sauce. Drink in one gulp!

Go for the raw eggs! Great amount of nutrion in them for sure.

#17

I hate raw eggs, but I know its got good nutritional value and also good for a cold.

#18

Does the nutritional value drop a lot if the eggs are cooked and not raw? I love eggs, just not necessarily raw ones...

raw eggs are like water - no nutrition value at all - they will just simply pass through you. they just need to be heated in some way to have some nutrition to you. The Chick in the egg is made in the egg-white and then the yolk is the food for the chick to grow, so don't think the whites don't have any nutritional value.

Raw egg is fine but to get the best nutritional value you would want to cut out the yolk. The white of an egg is pure protein and is really good for you while the yolk is pure fat and cholesterol and also has a product called lecithin which is an emulsifier for baking and making pastries. Everything in moderation is best rule of thumb.
