Just re-reading Bridget Jones Diary...very funny. Synopsis-In the course of the year recorded in Bridget Jones's diary, Bridget confides her hopes, her dreams, and her monstrously fluctuating poundage, not to mention her consumption of 5277 cigarettes and "Fat units 3457 (approx.) (hideous in every way)." In 365 days, she gains 74 pounds. On the other hand, she loses 72! There is also the unspoken New Year's resolution-the quest for the right man. Alas, here Bridget goes severely off course when she has an affair with her charming cad of a boss. But who would be without their e-mail flirtation focused on a short black skirt? The boss even contends that it is so short as to be nonexistent.
Thought I would reread this before I read her latest, Mad About the Boy

Too much at the moment...just finished the two original stories that lead to Flash Gordon but have been downloading too many ebook and it is too damn easy to just start one then another...

Currently e-reading Project Daedalus by Thomas Hoover - a bit slow so far but so was his Syndrome but it turned out great in the end;

Listening (when I am driving) to David Weber's Off Armageddon Reef - very bloated and verbose: after 14 hours (half way) I am still looking for a plot;

And in hard copy, gathering dust by the bedside due to the ebook onslaught, A Battle from the Start, the biography of Nathan Bedford Forrest which was just getting interesting after wading through his family tree; and bought Stephen Hunter's Havana today to pass the time when my appointment in town was slipped by 90 minutes and I didn't have my tablet to carry on with an ebook...

These words on my laptop screen as I type this text.

Henry Blofeld 'Squeezing the Orange', next up either Tim Wintno 'Eyrie' Or the new Chuck palahniuk. The best recent read was John Safran's 'Murder in Mississippi. Recommend it!

"The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo" by Tom Reiss. Winner of the 2013 Pulitzer prize for biography or auto biography. Just finished and thoroughly enjoyed. Very readable and informative, this is the story of Alexander Dumas (father of Alexandre Dumas).
Alexander Dumas was the son of a ne'er do well French nobleman and his black African slave mistress/wife, born and raised on the Caribbean "sugar" island of Dominica. Dumas arrived back in France in the mid 18th century, and the book follows his exploits as he rose from a young teenager, to the rank of General in Napoleon's army.
Thoroughly recommended.

I am currently reading "Inferno" by Dan Brown and enjoying it so far.
