What Women Want

At least once a day, I get an email from a guy somewhere who has read this column.  He is begging for an answer to the most frequently asked question by men: “What do women want?”
 Couple

The way men think gets them confused about what women want. For example, some men perceive working long days and weekends as a way to show their love.  Women, however, may see that behavior as neglect.  Men like to play sports, hike, or ride bikes for a date; women like to talk over a candle-lit dinner.  Signals can get crossed; misunderstandings can happen.  So…what do women want?

1. Being Number One
Go ask Cinderella, Cleopatra, Miss Piggy, or any other famous female icon.  If your woman is your first priority, it won’t be a problem when your mother, child, friend, or co-worker calls needing help.  Being Number One is her Number One desire.

2.  Keeping Your Word
Women want a man who keeps his word in relationships, work, and all aspects of life.  If you promised her the world (Disney World, that is) then keep your promise.  Keeping your word builds her trust.  More importantly, don’t make agreements you can’t keep.

3. Listening

Women want you to listen.  I know you are tired of hearing this, but it is central to your relationship.  Apparently, this is difficult for most men to do.  If your love is trying to talk to you, turn off the cell phone and TV, and give her your attention.

4. Believing Her
Women want their man to believe them.  Men tend to be (or think they are) more analytical than women.  Therefore, you may dismiss or diminish her concerns.  If you don’t trust her, then her words will have no affect on you.  (And you should ask yourself why you are there.)  But if she is worthy —believe her.

5. Doing What She Asks

I know, I know—some of you are probably smirking by now.  But if you do what she asks, you will have peace and joy.  This statement assumes she is a good person, is basically rational, and she doesn’t ask for the impossible.  You don’t have to be a wimp to give her what she wants.  She wants a man with backbone who isn’t afraid to show he cares.

6. Women Want To Be Wanted

Just as you want to know if she likes you, if you please her, and that she misses you when you are apart…she wants to know the same.  She wants to know that you prize her above all others, and that your eyes, your heart, and your thoughts are on her.  If she doesn’t want these actions and sentiments…you may be with the wrong girl.

Go on and try these suggestions.  Make her happy.  If you are with a happy girl, you are going to be a happy guy.  This is what women want.

What she really wants is for someone to love her. Let me explain.

The most common source of problems in relationships is that the couple misinterpreted their mutual feelings of attraction as love. This normally results in the couple trying to keep up appearances after the attraction fades, and wondering where the love went.

It is important to know that attraction is an emotional feeling that fades over time, while love is a promise that has nothing to do with attraction. Love is a promise to do 4 things. For the man:

    1. To accept everything that he knows and does not know about her now.
    2. To accept her regardless of what happens in the unknown future as they both age - for better or worse, richer or poorer, sickness or health for as long as they shall live. Even if she is later disfigured by an accident or crippled by illness, he promises now to accept her.
    3. To forgive her later. Since neither of them is perfect, they depend on each others' forgiveness.
    4. To encourage her to improve. This 4th one gives purpose to their relationship - otherwise it will get boring.

If they are both ready to make and keep these promises to each-other, then they are ready to love. When they keep them, they demonstrate their love for each-other. After they formally make their promises at their wedding, they complete or consummate their promises with sexual intercourse. Every time that they subsequently have sexual intercourse, they reinforce their promises – it is truly a wonderful and mutually satisfying mental, physical, emotional and spiritual experience.
