Good article, however, the legal minimum size limit for snapper is 270 mm. Measured from nose to 'V' of tail. Not 300 mm as stated. More about Fishing: east side

No matter how you look at it this issue, the signal given to the populace by this flag will lead to racial troubles we dont want or need.
I have in the past had considerable sympathy with most comment by this writer however, this time he has lost my vote.
Being one of the old people still to die I hope I am around long enough to say I told you so. More about Playing with our identity

We need only one flag. One flag would symbolize one nation.
Two flags indicate a divided nation, we don't need to keep going down this path, it only serves to reinforce and widen the division between maori and european. Which flag should it be. The harbour bridge was built by europeans with european expertise and paid for mainly by european users. Perhaps the flag should be of european origin and the only one flown on the harbour bridge. I find it inconceivable that the current government would be a party to this kind of crap. Any attempt to take my legally and legitimately owned property by a group of people empowered by legislation such as this would be physically repelled. I would bet my soul the same would happen right around the country.
Signing up to this would be not only a total disaster but also a national disgrace for all right thinking and forward looking kiwi's. More about No Public Mandate for UN Indigenous Rights Declaration

The government is moving toward privatisation of most services.
Roger Douglas and many of the present government are avid followers of Milton Friedman's philosophy of privatisation.
Selling off of other strategic assets is probably also on the cards. eg, Mighty River Power, Genesis Energy etc.
Unfortunately the big shake up and government asset sales in the 80's has done very little to make things any better than they were.. More about Out of the mouths of fools...
