  I come from a poor upbringing in England.. during the reign of Thatcher, Thatcher-milk-snatcher! Yep she took the milk away from the school kids and Jamie Oliver's been trying to put it back since. She had a good innings at a time when the world was changing globally. The Cold war was coming to an end, the Falklands conflict had elevated her appeal. The IRA was always making threats but Poll tax was her Downfall I reckon (in a Hitler sense too). It sparked inner city riots - Toxteth for one springs to mind. That irritating patronising, pompous voice was drummed into my head most nights through the TV. Don't wish to speak ill of the dead but I hated her at the time. I remember Paul Holmes (RIP) interviewing her just after I got here and she ran rings around him. It was good to watch from afar but not so from under her rule if you were from a lower income family. But looking back it wasn't all bad. For without her we may not have had Punk Rock and the subsequent cool Britania sounds or the hours of hilarious Spitting Image sketches. She led the way for other women to step up for leadership worldwide (not so good when one thinks of Jenny Shipley) The way England was heading though made me wish for greener pastures. And when an opportunity arose to come here to NZ, I took it and have never looked back. So I owe her that I guess - RIP Maggie T. More about RIP Maggie Thatcher or Good Riddance?

  Support it on the whole as making a commitment formally I think proves your love for your partner.. especially as same sex and don't really have to. While on the subject: Put my gold lame undersized shorts on the other day, and my Sketchers Shape Ups to show off my legs and butt, headed on down to TePapa to see the Game masters exhibit.....
