Nothing says perfect nibble like a big plate of hot, sticky, crispy chicken wings. Add a little extra chilli for that fired up effect which makes for an ideal Guy Fawkes party snack.

For Cracker Chicken Wings, you will need:

20 chicken wings (1.5kg)
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon chilli flakes
1 teaspoon five spice
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 recipe party dip (see below) or your favourite pre-made dip

How to make Cracker Chicken Wings:

1. Place wings in a plastic bag set open in a shallow dish. In a small bowl stir together soy sauce, ginger, chilli flakes, five spice powder and garlic. Pour over wings. Close bag and toss to coat. Chill in fridge several hours or overnight, turning bag occasionally. Remove wings from bag, reserving marinade.

2. Place wings on a foil-lined or baking paper lined baking tray. Bake, uncovered, in a 180 degree oven for 10 minutes. Brush with reserved marinade (then discard remaining marinade).

Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until chicken is tender and no longer pink.
Serve with aioli or your favourite creamy dip.

Party tips:
Serve with this cracker of a homemade dip:
In a small bowl stir together a standard pottle of sour cream plus 3 tablespoons seed mustard of your choice. Garnish with fresh whole chives.
For extra firecracker fun for a Guy Fawkes party, add some freshly chopped red chilli to the marinade. Chilli powder also works well.
