Your rank can positively affect your business growth

I recently dug a little deeper into why the early adopters of online advertising keep coming back, at least in the local search engine area. What do they know that others don't?

The results did not surprize me, but may give comfort to some of you teetering over the edge of signing up to your first online advert, link or banner.

If the end game is to drive audience with disposal income in the right target segment to your website, then targetting them through one of New Zealands many online search engines is the way to go.

I had a quick look at a couple of  categories and looked at their month (or in some cases annual) trend in page views.

The graphs below represent the growth in traffic to these companies websites over the period of time. These advertisers have either consistently advertised and built "their brand" through the search, or they have upgraded their "rank" on the search engine and seen increases based on more unique users clicking through to their sites. Many have used their online listing to compliment their other advertising initiatives.

Retailer (homeware)

Advertiser appeared consistently over several years,  upgrading their rank regularly  on the search engine. 2007 is only a quarter through and the pages views are significantly ahead of previous years.

Financial Services Company 1

Upgraded their rank to a "market leader" in January this year and has left their competitors in the dust!

Financial Services Company 2

Advertised steadily for three years, then upgraded their rank in 2007. Huge lift in traffic to website.

Business to Business Company

Upgraded their rank in 2007, with a great resulting lift in page views.

All these advertisers have utilised the power of rank to increase the traffic to their website and ultimately increasing sales. Have you considered this?
