Today, digital marketing guru Stuart Macadam shares his Top 3 Tips on how to develop a compelling email.
1. Always look at it from your target customer perspective. What are their pain points? What do they really need help with. Put yourself in their shoes for a day, a week, even a month. You will learn a lot just from visualising. Make notes on what you experience and confirm these hunches by speaking to people you are targeting.
2. Think of an incredibly catchy headline. If they signed up to your offer, you can say something like "Here's that great offer you asked for." If they are an existing customer, you could go a bit more personal and say "Hi Stuart." Being honest and personal goes a long way and increases your open rate.
3. Engage them. This could be through questions, it could be with a compelling offer, a great email template. You need to catch their attention within 10 seconds. If they click through to your landing page, you're almost halfway there.
Bonus tip: Make sure your landing page is designed to sell. Getting them onto your website is one thing. Converting them or upselling them is another story altogether. I recommend you get at least 12 people you know to provide you with feedback about the landing page.
