Once you extend yourself to run 12km.  Suddenly anything less is poor performance.

Once you establish a new behaviour that is successful, anything less is mediocre.

Although…. the inverse is also true, once you let a standard slip, that becomes the new benchmark.  And you start sliding.

    Successful behaviour may just be attributed to a particular time or set of variables which may or may not be replicated at any further point in time. A standard may change but this does not necessarily imply a mediocre or sliding behaviour as 'performance' is just a gauge or snapshot in time. True continuation of success must be awareness and speedy adaptation and modification in our behaviours.
