Make Safety A Lifetime Habit

It’s the little things we do that can change our life. A small accident can be life changing, which can affect us for years and rob us of our “quality of life”.

Pretty much anyone you talk to has some personal story that they can tell about a time in their life when “IF ONLY” they’d followed that small rule that they knew, it would have saved them from an accident (If only l had looked twice, if only l wasn’t in a hurry).
It is usually the little things that mean the most in life, like a smile of a child or the person that offers to help those in need. Sometimes, it’s the little things that can catch us out if we let them and often the rules or things that seem small, frustrating/petty and unnecessary are there for a reason.

Be safe out there, at home and in your work place.

so true! when you see people taking unnecessary risks in order to do things for others or because others are watching and they don't want to look 'uncool' by being super-safe - it's just crazy. as they say - 'safety first' and it's so relevant to everything we do.

Yep agree, don’t learn safety rules simply by accident

i believe in gut-feel as well. when you feel something is about to go wrong, retract. we need to be observant to the things and people around us. we are usually given a hint of bad things to happen so be aware. Being safe makes a good habit. i do pray for it everyday.

Safety quotes are catchy and easy to remember “Safety is as simple as ABC - Always Be Careful”.
How many people out there really think about safety every day. Taking a short-cut can either be fatal or life changing, accidents hurt and they can change your career. So what if a job takes longer, it’s better than someone getting hurt.
In my work environment Safety Is Number One, we can’t afford to take any risks. So it’s hard to make that impression on your family members as they go about their lives. The balance between having a good time, being safe and still looking cool.
If you ever get that Gut Feeling before you take that risk, then maybe you need to LISTEN TO THOSE VOICES.

If only my brother had bothered to click in his seatbelt....would have saved a lifetime of mourning for my family. Sometimes i wish that others could see the horror of identifying a body that has had its head stitched back on and then maybe they would not be quite so complacent. That one small second could save your life. You don't always get a chance to look back and say "what if...?"

There are so many things we need to teach our kids to keep them safe.
Don’t pat strange dogs, fasten your seatbelt, don’t take drugs, look both ways before you cross the road, be fire wise, don’t drink & drive, the list goes on. Lets hope they take our advise and not have to learn lessons the hard way.

Safety is Not a gadget or tool but a state of mind. You need to be thinking about it all the time & listen to that parrot on your shoulder.

Sometimes it is the more experienced people that have accidents because they get complacent. Newbies tend to stick to rules and are nervous enough to keep checking things. The old hand hasn't had an accident in the last 20 years until oneday he doesn't double check something and its all over.

You are right people can be complacent, safety training is essential and should be followed to the letter. I think maybe it is a certain type of person that takes risks, not there age. Always remember that no matter what profession you are in, workplace safety is of utmost importance. In risky work environments work place rulles and proceedures must be followed otherwise your life and your work buddies are at risk. Workplace safety is a concept, which should be taken seriously and followed meticulously. A danger foreseen is half avoided, sometimes work place hazards or dangers can’t be removed but are instead managed to lower their risk. The employers should always ensure that their employees get all the safety training and benefits that are entitled in their profession and the employees should ensure that they follow all the safety regulations and rules as well.
Safety is a state of mind, Accidents are an abscence of mind. Fatality and injury rates are too high.
