Joint pains- how are your joints coping with the stresses of daily life ???

As we grow older our joints are often the first areas that openly display signs of wear and tear and - dare I say it- advancing years. Are there things we can do to minimise and/or alleviate these stresses- exercises, drugs, herbal remedies ? 99% of us will need help eventually.

Sometimes I can just be quietly wandering around when sharp pains emanate from under my left patella (knee cap)- a legacy of old soccer and surfing injuries that included ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments and numerous "wrenched" knees- as they were once called- the stabbing pain can last for up to 2 minutes and disappears as quickly as it appears. The strange thing is it never appears while jogging or cycling and never with prior warning so is very difficult to take back to my doctor for diagnosis....it's not gout as there is no red inflammation, searing pain or the accompanying "hotspots". Of course it may be as simple as compressed cartilage...or not.

i heard fish oil capsules are good for joints and arthritis ;)

Very good thanx- we have fishoil capsules actually sitting on the breakfast bar and my partner is always asking if I have had any recently- I reply "do you mean the fishoil capsules ?' but that goes right over her head- yes maybe I need to pay more attention to her- she is Chinese and they have strong opinions about mineral and vitamin additives to your diet. Omega-3 is the vital ingredient ??

Fish oil sounds like the best cure WG.

About 21 million adults have osteoarthritis -- the wear-and-tear condition that causes achy joints and may eventually lead to can't-get-up-from-the-sofa pain.
In women, it occurs more frequently after age 50
In men, it's more likely before age 45.
Also, sites of joint pain are different. Women are more likely to develop osteoarthritis in their hands, knees, ankles, or feet, while men are more likely to develop it in their wrists, hips, or spine.

Age is a bitch.
