I find I end up watching random sports I wouldn't normally be interested in. The diving events will probably be the ones I will be looking forward to. Will anyone else be looking forward to the volleyball or synchronised swimming.

At the last Olympics me and my mates ended up making drinking games for random sports. Some of them were easy like picking a runner or swimmer. Other ones were weird like watching dressage and drinking every time the horse's tail flicked above the height of its back or when it did that diagonal walking thing!

.....I'm all about track and field....so will probably be keeping my eye and mysky on the dial to capture those moments when I am not home.....my new favourite Olympic sport will be the rugby sevens when it is introduced and the next Olympics....now that should be interesting....

Anything with a world record effort comes first- when does it reach a limit ?? And then anything with a Kiwi individual or sports team and then something where the big boys are upstaged...oh...and something with a little controversy. Pure theatre. Can wait.......

its not about sport anymore it is just a big advertising pitch to the masses creating a false sense of pride in your country for armchair warriors .then being brainwashed with corporate banners trying to associate their crap junk products with healthy disciplined athletes

I always like to see NZ and other small population countries doing well. Unfortunately I do feel its becoming a mass marketing event with Olympic sponsors being plastered everywhere, and with so many events, with more being added, I cant wait for when an eating competition or even drinking competition is added to the Olympics. I'd find this much more entertaining and funny to watch than water polo and other sports. Make a great change to all the mega fit athletes there every year.

The Olympic Sports is now Big Business. It is all about money now. You have athletes who are paid big money by the sponsors to promote the brands of big business. Just imagine the billions and billions of eyeballs that will be watching this event over the next couple of weeks, who wouldn't want to make money from this one in four year event.

The great thing about the Olympics is you dont have to be a sports fan to get involved with all the hype, pageantry and gallantry. Always a spectacle to behold. I love the opening ceremony just as much or more than any other part. The emotion and the patriotism is overwhelming.

I don't have plans to watch any particular sports but no doubt it will be on at my place and I will get enthralled watching some sport I've never heard of. Good times.
