I use public transport so no matter what the price of petrol or diesel is the bus or train fare is the same. Also the bus and train fares are subsidised so it beats owning a motor vehicle and paying all the costs of ownership.

Hard to imagine a car becoming a luxury item or public transport being the vehicle of choice but downsizing will be the first step in the devolution of the automobile. Future fuels. Hot air.

Plenty of hot air here, some of us want to stretch out on a long trip and not share our ride which Joe Public.

I think we pay too much but petrol will run out completely before too long - or become economically unviable - and then they will start spending all that money they are using getting crude out of inaccessible or hostile places on clean technology and we'll have to work out what to do with 50 billion cars that can't run anymore!
