It’s a problem that many men believe they have, peaking too early during sex. But did you know that there are some positions that can help you last longer? This week we’re going to delve into what they are and how to make them work for you – so you can lose the fear that the grand finale is just a thrust or two away.
For a woman, sex doesn’t just start when you penetrate her. And I’ll bet that you’ve never heard a woman complain that the foreplay went on for too long. As I’ve said before, a lot of women prefer foreplay to intercourse, so if you struggle with control, you can use that to your advantage. Spend more time kissing her lips, sensually stroking her body (not just her breasts and genitals), and going down on her. You could even give her the big ‘O’ before you enter her – that way if you don’t last for as long as you’d hoped in ‘the main act’ she will be left feeling satisfied.
Rear entry positions are great for those who want to prolong coitus because they allow you to control the depth and speed of penetration. Take slow, shallow strokes and remember it’s not a race, but ideally your partner should cross the finish line first! Another benefit of this position is that you can reach around and massage your partner’s clitoris to bring her to orgasm.
The good old reliable missionary position is perfect for a guy who is trying to prevent himself from peaking too soon. If you feel yourself coming too close to orgasm you can simply withdraw, reach down and pull down your testicles or press on you frenulum to prevent yourself from ejaculating.
Provided your partner moves slowly and sensuously, this position can help you to last longer too. This is because women tend to rock back and forth (or round in circles) rather than thrusting up and down. And while it feels good for you, it doesn’t offer as much stimulation as thrusting. When you are both ready to climax, lift and tighten your buttock while swivelling your hips (she should tighten her pelvic floors) and soon you’ll be writhing around in ecstasy together.
When you are in a side-by-side position penetration tends to be shallower, so you can penetrate the vagina without thrusting. In this position you can alternate between penetrating and withdrawing from the vagina, letting your penis rest against the clitoris between insertions. This will feel good for her and it should mean that the sensations do not become too overwhelming for you.
Bear in mind that these positions may not work for everyone, like anything it’s a case of trial and error. Just remember to relax and stay calm – practice will make perfect; with any luck both you and your partner will soon be enjoy you’re new, long-lasting, love-making sessions.
If you think that you may have a real problem with premature ejaculation it’s best to seek help from a medical professional.
