The stage of real, unconditional love, or blissful relationship, is what follows after discovering each other and growing through mutual healing into a committed relationship. According to researchers, if you reach this ultimate phase of complete acceptance and love you are part of the lucky 5% of the couples who make it.

Before going any further, here is a brief review of the first three relationship stages, presented in previous articles:
During the infatuation stage, you experience blissful love, full of passion, fun, and deep intimacy. This stage is followed by the power struggle stage, where common relationship problems transforms you from partners to adversaries; you may use blame, criticism, and even sarcasm on a regular basis.
If you understand that the power struggle stage is just "healing and growth waiting to happen", then you move into the transformation stage, where you redefine your partnership and you tune in emotionally to each other, by creating a common, fulfilling vision.
What to Expect In a Blissful Relationship
First: your needs as separate individuals are satisfied and integrated with the needs of your relationship; you easily maintain a healthy balance of togetherness and autonomy. In a blissful relationship you are both aware of your own shortcomings and do your best to overcome them in a mature way.
Instead of competing with each other and “being right”, you work together with your soulmate towards a deep and meaningful life.
Second: during your blissful relationship you are likely to re-affirm your commitment, renew your vows, and have a second honeymoon. You may decide to have something new in your relationship, like a common project or involvement in a fulfilling cause.
Third: don’t expect that there will never be bumps on the road; the difference is that now you both deal in a constructive way with any situation. You have now a holistic approach, being equipped with better skills and a well-developed awareness and wisdom. You are more proactive than reactive.
Occasional - but inevitable - life crisis (career changes, financial challenges, moving to a new country, major health issues, loss of a loved one) do not threaten or overtake your relationship because you are now able to mobilize quickly as a team and deal intelligently with whatever situation comes up.
If you manage to stay connected, encourage and support each other focusing on and being grateful for the positive aspects of such a trying period, your relationship will be the wellspring of peace, love and joy in your life.
Bottom Line
If you give up at the first difficulties that you face in your relationship, you’re likely to repeat the same pattern in your next relationship.
Do not expect a blissful relationship to just happen to you! You have to do your part and keep working on it.
