The All Whites have been one of the few teams that did not partake in this appalling behaviour, and for that New Zealanders can be proud.

I disagree with the comparison of skinny stick figures on the catwalk being compared with the perceived bane of football - the dive. Today's final was well ref'ed even though there was,13 yellow cards (with one being a double yellow) ref Webb told most of the divers to get up and play on. The players from the very first games of football, milked free kicks and penalties - it's nothing new

Congrats to All Whites for their accomplishment, congrats to Spain for winning and congrats to the octopus for getting it right :)
  • I think that the malnourished catwalk model comments are well out of line with the hollywood acting on the football field, but I won't go into my views on that topic, but the final was dissappointing with the players seeming to perceive scoring penalties more desirable to scoring goals. Congrats to the All Whites for doing us proud ..I think there was the odd hollywood performed by kiwi players..we'll look the other way this time!

The All Whites were the most favoured team in South Africa.I Know this because my father lives in a place called Bloemfontein ( The controversial England goal venue ).Everyone loved the All whites and would have loved to see them proceed to the next round. Well Done boys you did GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • The fifa final was a perfect example of bringing the game into disrepute. The ref's decisions were not constant and it seemed to favour the Spanish team. I think that having a video ref would be valuable to help judge if the player is diving and putting on a show or genuinely fowled. whilst this may seem ridiculous and would undoubtedly slow the game down, it is the only solution as most teams across the world resort to these antics to win games.

That is ridiculous, it would turn an already long game into a marathon. The ref and linesmen especially just need to grow some sack.
    • Andy Parr says
I'm not sure what game you were watching but the ref was very consistent. The Dutch do, and always will, play a very physical game. As for video ref, it would be worst than ridiculous. The beautiful game relies on a fast flowing game. To stop diving, bring in rugby league style citing and fining.

My hand goes up for consistency by the ref/umpire in all codes of sport. We see it often enough with the Phoenix, All Blacks, Silver Ferns, Warriors etc with the result often not reflecting the true grit and determination from our sports' teams. I think league has turned a corner with having 2 refs on the field but they are only human so it's not gonna be 100% ever!
Congrats to our All Whites what a way to hold your heads up high!!
  • I hope women do not fall for beauty stereotypes created by homosexuals interested in making female models look like unhealthy ultra thin pre-pubescent males.
  • Sanela Hamulic says

  • A big congrats to our boys. This football world cup has made everyone sit and notice that NZ can and does produce great football talent. NZ can only get better and give us more exposure to the top grade football. Huzzah!
