How to Survive by John Hudson

How to Survive by John Hudson $34.99  304 pages

I bet that John, being the British Military Chief SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Extraction) Instructor would be a handy person to get some professional development from if you have noticed that your human resource department has a tendency to send you into sticky situations every now and again.

John’s book demonstrates through stories how good planning helps prevent little mistakes that can be made under pressure snowballing into something really nasty.

Who should read this book?  Well, John’s critical review of epic tales of survival and tips and tactics makes for an enthralling read on its own.  The 304 pages including notes are also a reference guide for adventurers and those who risk their own lives for the good of others.

John does not forget the perils of professionals trying to survive the concrete corporate jungle. By reflecting on how the lessons learned from extreme situations can be applied in the business sector John shows how survival wisdom can guide regardless of your days to do list.

A reflection of John’s expertise as a survival instructor is that he can communicate clearly core principals in a way that is enjoyable to read about and easy to remember.  As for me, I’m off to light some fires with balls of cotton wool, some Chap Stick and wood shavings.
